3 Showings and a Request

Hello,

In an ongoing effort to introduce audiences in my new East Coast home to my work I am thrilled to be showing short works at multiple venues this fall:

October 29 at 7pm I have a work in progress showing through Movement Research Open Performance at Eden's Expressway, located at 537 Broadway, 4th Floor, Manhattan

November 17 at 2pm I have a second work in progress showing at  Dance New Amsterdam280 Broadway (entrance at 53 Chambers St.), Manhattan

November 24  I'm showing in Williamsburg Art neXus’ WAXworks at Triskellion Arts118 North 11th Street, 3rd Floor, Brooklyn

In order to continue to make art that is authentic, intentional and well-crafted I need to reach out for some support.

My current work has a very stripped down-basement of the bar-rock show-raw, aesthetic, so I don’t need a lot. I just need studio space.  At $10-$20 an hour space rental fees add up fast.  Please consider making a donation of any size to allow me some room to work in.

I have decided to partner with New York Live Arts as a fiscally sponsored Associate Artist. This makes it possible to for me to once again accept tax-deductible support.

Donations can be made directly on the New York Live Arts website here https://newyorklivearts.secure.force.com/donate?dfId=a0ni0000000hnf0AAA

Thank you for your continued support,
Marissa Rae Niederhauser

Artward Bound 2013

I am the luckiest artist in the world.

This August The Field sent me to Earthdance for an Artward Bound Residency
OMG.  Creative Paradise.  I haven't felt so completely myself for such a long time.
The woods, the staff, our facilitator and an amazingly talented, smart kickass group of ladies all injected me with so much strength and renewal I'm completely reinvested in getting out there and kicking some arty ass in the most generous way possible.

While Earthdance has some gorgeous studios, I found myself even more inspired to do daily videodances in the woods.  To share with you a taste of this magical experience I am posting a few, randomly chosen, unedited moments.
Also,  I have some material here, for an installation.  It needs a home.  Hit me up if you have some leads.

2 performances

I have two shows coming up.

am so excited to be showing work in NYC's historic Judson Church through Movement Research's Monday night showings. Judson Church is a "radical arts ministry"!  Who knew such a thing existed?!

so i'm kind of a little bit nervous

This is a totally new solo, WINGS.  I will be joined again by my trusty vintage Newcomb record player.  I'm going to be working with some text,  I'm playing with soundscapes,  I'm dancing  around.  It's gonna be pretty rad.

It's goin down Monday 4/29 8 PM
55 Washington Square South
It's Free!

In addition I will be dusting off an old jewel  Mercy Is A Warrior  for Dance Day at DNA.  I will be joined by a beautiful new dance friend Julie Bordonaro and I am going to have a new skirt designed by Andrae Gonzalo (yes that Andrae!)

Saturday May 4th
It is an all day event with tons of performances and classes. We will be performing twice around 1 in the lobby and around 4:3o in the upstairs gallery.

It's also free!
Dance New Amsterdam 28o Broadway

Videos

I've been putting some samples online.

This is

YOUR MORALITY TALES
ARE IGNORANT
AND ARROGANT
AND I AM SICK OF HEARING THEM

From It Doesn't Matter if it has Been Said Before Some Things Bear Repeating a series of Perfomance Installations at Space Available in Seattle, Wa.  Presented 10/2010.

In light of the recent media coverage and public outcry during the Steubenville rape case I felt the need to bring this work back out into the world.  (If you know a performace or gallery space looking for this sort of work- hit me up).

Also,  here is Mercy Is A Warrior.  Presented at Seattle Art Museum Remix 06/2011.   My co-performer is Tobi Nussbaum in black.  More on this piece here Mercy blog
